Usage area

This phrase is widely used in casinos, poker rooms and other establishments offering card games.

Description

Incomplete Deck – a deck that does not have one or more cards required for a particular game.

In casinos and poker rooms, croupiers are required to make sure that the deck is full before they start playing for money. Traditionally, the dealer unfolds her fan face down. Cards in the new deck are arranged in a certain order so that their presence can be quickly checked.

If the deck is incomplete, it is usually subject to disposal. As a rule, establishments do not use cards from different decks, especially if they have already been involved in the game before. They may differ in the degree of wear, which is unacceptable.
