History of Marina Bay Sands
Moshe Safdie Architects developed the design of Marina Bay Sands. The key elements are three hotel buildings and Sky Park located on them. Aedas Singapore, Arup, and Parsons Brinkerhoff took part in the construction. The main contractor is SsangYong Engineering and Construction.
The complex opening was planned for 2009, but the prices of construction materials grew significantly and due to the labor shortages, the construction stretched for a more extended period. Moreover, the global financial crisis forced the Las Vegas Sands temporarily freeze all its projects.
The casino was opened on April 27, 2010. In June, the first visitors saw Sky Park. In November, the theater gave its first performance. The grand opening of Marina Bay Sands was only on February 17, 2011. On the same day, all restaurants opened their doors to customers.
